Dermoid cysts
Dermoid cysts are benign tumours that can occur any where in the body, but commonly found in the head and neck region. Common sites are the neck, nose, scalp, parotid glad, mouth and tongue. They cause problems as they can get infected and swell therefore cause pain and obstruction of vital structures.
This is best treated with surgical excision. Prior to surgery imaging with Ultrasound or MRI scanning may be required.
